The Notebook for Discovering Your Mind

The dear Me Project has created the “Notebook for Discovering Your Mind”, which was first distributed to participants during the Inspiration Tour as part of the 2024 Collective Amazements Troupe [CAT].

This notebook is a worksheet filled with prompts that can be used in museums, at home, or in any other favorite space. It allows users to freely reflect and write about how their mind feels when viewing different works of art or listening to sounds. It can also serve as a conversation starter or a place for drawing. The notebook gently guides users through questions to help them explore and reflect on their emotions in the moment.

The creation of this notebook draws from the experience of workshops held by the dear Me Project, with valuable advice from Jolien Posthumus, a mental health expert from the Netherlands (former Program Manager of the Museum of the Mind Mental Health Program).

In addition to the Japanese version, we have also created English and Dutch versions.

The notebook has been used at the following events:

  • Art Week Tokyo 2024 – Kids & Youth Viewing Workshops

  • CAT 2024 Inspiration Tour (Sponsored by the Shiseido Camellia Fund)

In 2024, the project received a Viewing Support Grant from Arts Council Tokyo and also produced Braille versions in both Japanese and English.

You can download the PDF version of the notebook here. Feel free to print only the pages you need, or use it directly on your smartphone. Enjoy exploring and reflecting as much as you like! If you’d like to share your creations using this worksheet on Instagram, please use the hashtag #cat_artproject to share on social media. We look forward to seeing your contributions!
